XJ – Rear Outboard Shock Conversion

Description

This is our outboard shock kit to compliment the coil conversion kit. For shocks that use a 1/2″ bolt, between 1.75″ and 1″ mounting width (shave down the legs of the outer bracket to narrow the mounting width). Not only does it give an upper shock mounting location in a desirable position, it reinforces the frame rail across the whole area that will be stressed. When you coil spring the rear axle of your XJ with a 4 link, the original shock location no longer works. This kit repositions your shocks outboard of the frame rails behind the axle like modern offroad rigs. Being mounted much wider, this gives the shock far more control over the axle which is extremely helpful in high performance coil sprung (or coilover) applications, especially if you are looking to tune the shocks and race the jeep.

This configuration is designed to allow the most performance possible without raising the upper shock mounts through the floorboards. If being combined with our coil conversion and an end result of around 5-6″ of lift with 35-37″ tires, an 11-12″ travel shock packages well.
