XJ – Rear Coil Conversion

You asked, and we listened, here is our Rear Coil Conversion for XJs!

This kit is designed to use beehive style TJ/WJ rear coil springs short enough to sit below the frame rail, instead of cutting most of the frame material away like other options. If you decide to install a threaded tube in the center to run an optional air bump, it is frenched half way into the frame rail but then fully welded in place so no structure is lost. This kit includes upper and lower coil buckets, coil clamp integrated into the lower buckets, and complete frame plating in the area around the mount, including reinforcement all the way up to the floorboard. Lower mount allows 3 different spring locations  depending on stretch amount. Designed for approximately 2-5″ of stretch without relocating upper mount (but relocating the upper mount further rearward in a custom application is completely acceptable)

We’re still figuring out spring heights vs. lift heights, but here’s our experience so far: Metalcloak Dual Rate (our favorite springs!) TJ Rear 3.5″ springs net around 6″ of lift. They run tall in other applications, so we believe they’re closer to 4″ TJ springs from other manufacturers. Our *guess* Is that stock TJ rear springs will net 2-3″ lift with our conversion. That is a guess for the moment though, we will update as people experiment and give us feedback.
